My employee has an expired residence pass. What should I do?

During the Corona crisis, Dutch Immigration Office was able to continue its administrative work unchanged. Applications have been processed, decisions have been made, permit applications have been approved.

However, the IND desks are only open to the public to a very limited extent, for the time being until 19 May. Existing appointments until that date will be cancelled. Only for newcomers an exception is made. They are able to collect their residence card, provided it concerns an initial application. The condition still applies that he / she has entered the Netherlands with a provisional residence permit (MVV).

An another requirement is that the residence permit is required for the application for health insurance or registration at the municipality. Biometrics cannot yet be administered. For this we have to wait until the IND offices are open again.

And as for your employee whose VVR extension has already been approved and the new residence card cannot be collected? No problem. The current - expired – residence card remains valid. After all, the new validity date is registered in the IND system. So you are not in default.

The pass can be collected as soon as the IND offices open again. Always by making an appointment.

We will keep you informed and are happy to assist you!
